Now begins the race to add value to basic cloud offerings. I expect to see slicehost, amazon, and rackspace to be doing a lot in this space. Amazon will probably be rolling their own, but rackspace and slicehost will be partnering.

I like articles for this because although on the face value it’s a writing software for the cloud application it’s really a best practices article on writing good software for horizontally scaling systems in distributed environments … you know or cloud environments.

This fundamental starting point for an enterprise cloud computing definition. It identifies charicataristics, service models, and delivery models. This goes a long way to defining the technical aspects of cloud computing, but doesn’t address business drivers or the technical environments that cloud computing is growing from.
